I'm now in my Junior year and have very little info on how to apply. I know that the application opens in June and I can just fill it out/send it when I'm done - then take the DAT in August and send the score. However, I never took any biology lab yet (since it's 3rd year). How does this work? Do I put in my application that I'll take these labs in my Senior year? Should I just take one this quarter? Thank you in advance.

You just need to complete your prereqs before you attend dental school. But I would suggest if you want to apply this cycle take the DAT earlier than August.

It opened last year on June 3rd, it's much like a common app so you fill it out and press send. You pick the schools you want it sent to an they charge you based o the school. I think last year it was $240 for your first school and $80 each school after that. Its best to have your personal statement ready so you can just copy, paste, submit. Once you submit it, it takes 4-6 weeks to process. I submitted mine mid June and they were done with everything by the first week of July. I had already taken my DAT and I submitted my transcripts to them so I was very on top of it. If you aren't, it takes much longer. Once schools receive ALL of your information (they MUST have your DAT) then they send you a secondary application. You fill that out (usually a few essays and a supplemental fee around $60) and send it back ASAP. Then after they receieve that your file is complete and goes under review in the order that its completed. So you want it completed ASAP. Some schools don't have supplementals. Some schools don't tell you to do it, you have to find it on their website. Some schools only want a supplemental fee but no essays. So you REaLLY have to be on top of it and organized. Once they review they start interviews as early as August and until Nov/Dec. On Dec 1st the first round of acceptances go out and from there it's pretty unpredictable. You could get interviews all before December and get accepted Dec 1st. You could not be accepted until April or be waitlisted until June. You could not interview until Feb or March. I wish I knew it was such a high-anxiety process going in. Good luck!
