- No, you can designate schools and submit your AMCAS right up to the school's deadline. However, the competition for remaining seats generally increases as the application season progresses, so it's better to apply early.

- If you take the August MCAT, then designate this on your AMCAS and schools will not process your app until they have your scores. However, it is still to your advantage to apply early because some schools will send you secondaries before they get your scores.

- The average matriculant of most schools has a MCAT of 30. That won't change much between schools, so your expected or 'hoped for' score shouldn't affect your school-selection process. Like anything, just try your best and get the highest score you can.
