I am a student going to a state college right now but im doing somewhat poorly so i was thinking about going back home and going to less challenging of a university such as the university of houston.

I was wondering how this is looked upon by dental schools bc i'm going from a more academically challenging and prestigious school to a less of one.

I do have to add that i finished most of my pre reqs already here at UT so i'd basically just be finishing a degree and taking the ochems wherever i transfer to.

Also, does anyone know how GPA is calculated if you transfer?

Thanks for your help.

Transferring from UT-Austin to Houston probably wont be frowned upon. I don't think the name is going to make much of a difference in this case. They may ask you why you transfered, but people transfer schools for many reasons (family, money, or personal reasons). I've taken classes at 4 different schools (the issue never came up once during interviews).

When AADSAS calculates your GPA, grades from every school you have attended will be averaged together into one nice fat GPA. 🙂
