there is a distinction though between a "less competitive" school and a community college. If a majority of your coursework was completed at a community college, I can't imagine that this will not be taken into consideration if you are up against someone who went to Cornell (and even if they have slightly lower grades). Of course though, if you took a few courses at a CC, you won't really be penalized. Overall though, I don't think that it matters much. I went to a school that is considered "less competitive" and had no problem.
