Hello everyone. This is my first time using SDN, so not sure if I posted this in the right place.

Anyway, I am torn whether or not I should apply ED to USF. Stats-wise I have the cutoff MCAT score (518, at least 127 in each section) and (hopefully) average ECs. USF MCOM is my dream school, however I am not sure I am willing get rejected and essentially lose out on this cycle. My advisor has highly recommended I apply ED and believes that my chances of getting in would be higher. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this program and would be willing to share their thoughts? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

Have you talked with the admissions team at USF to know how they use Early Decision? This isn't undergrad.

Thanks for the link! Based on the tips, it seems like I may be a good fit.
Do you recommend emailing USF adcom? I was not sure if med schools answer these types of questions.

As has been recommended in past threads regarding early decision (which can be found with SDN's search feature), it is essential to first meet with the school to have them evaluate if you are a good candidate. If you are not able to, it is likely not worth risking it unless you have exceptional reasons for needing to stay in the area around the campus.

Worse, Morsani is trying really really hard to compete against Miami and UF and is developing stat-lady-of-the-night attitudes to push itself up the USWNR rankings. Just about the worst school in FL to apply ED to.

Edit: What an unfortunate abbreviation especially in context.

There is usually a director of the ED application track so your first move should be to contact them and set up an appointment to discuss whether you fit the candidates they are looking for.

Applying ED to med school limits you to applying to ONE school only until you get a "yes" or "no" from the ED school, and they are not required to give you a decision until October.

You are a FL resident with many FL school having high MCAT profiles, it would seem wiser to apply RD to them all and show your love to USF in your secondary essays.
