question about where to apply

The typical is around 6-7 ish. You have solid GPA and maybe slightly higher MCAT avg. With your strong GPA I would bet that you will be considered by many a slightly better than avg applicant. If your just starting the app process though, you might want to get crankin on those apps stat! Overall I think your 10 is a safe number to apply to.

i actually just completed my preliminary application and i was about to submit it....now im having second thoughts if 10 schools is too many so i dunno wat to do....i want to make sure i get in somewhere so i am applyign to more places but if i dont need to apply to 10 then i might narrow down my list so thats my debate

Well, it's an individual choice, so I don't think I can tell you flat out if 10 schools is too many, or applying to exactly how many schools will be optimal for you. I can tell you that I applied to around that many osteopathic medical schools. I didn't submit all the secondaries, however, after I reviewed them. The worst that will happen if you apply to a lot of schools is that you might spend more money and time than perhaps necessary. In my opinion, it's probably better to overshoot a bit then undershoot, for obvious reasons. Anyway, the number of schools you apply to and the amount of time and money you spend on them won't matter too much if you get accepted, as it becomes quickly overshadowed by the joy of acceptance at the end of the process. Basically, do what you need to do to get accepted, hopefully to the school that you wish. Follow your gut about how many schools to apply to, in order to play the admissions game well. As mentioned above, the average is around 6-7 schools. By that standard, 10 isn't that much at all. You want to have a broad range of schools, but don't apply to any schools you don't plan on attending.

Good luck~
