Hello all!

This is my first time posting on SDN, so thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out!

I have a quick question about the work/activities section.

I have been in a club for three years.
Year 1 = General member
Year 2 = staff position
Year 3 = president

I was going to create two different sections: one for year 2 and one for year 3.
I was going to list year 3 (president) as my most meaningful experience.

My question is: should I combine these two sections and talk about all of it in one section?

If not, should I repeat the general description for the club in each section because there is no guarantee they will read it in order?

Thank you so much!

Combine it all into one activity and just use the description to say you held different positions within the club.

I have a similar situation in one of my activities in which I was a club member for one year, the treasurer the next year, and a co-president the next year. I put them all into one activity and explained my different officer positions in the description. I feel like you shouldn't make multiple entries for the same club. That almost looks like you're trying to fill up the page when you really have just been in the same club for three years.

You can definitely focus on your role as president in your explanation of why it was most meaningful, though. I don't think there is any expectation that you talk about all years equally if you did it for multiple years.

Okay, that's what I'll do. Thanks!

I have one more question: I see that it is asking me if it is a repeated experience. Technically I took summers off, but I did the club for three consecutive years. is that something i should take into account?

Call it a repeated experience. You did it for three school years, so you did it for one year and repeated it for the next two. When you check the box and enter the date ranges, they'll see what the situation is. Additionally, you can say in your description that you did it for three school years. I even explained that I planned to do it for the next school year just to be clear. However, you can't list this upcoming school year as a fourth repetition since the school year hasn't started yet.

I was the Treasurer one year and Pres the next year of a club on campus . I used two different slots because the roles were COMPLETELY different and required 2 different descriptions.

I had a similar situation for student government where I held different positions over different years with different descriptions (but they were actually rather self-explanatory/I could explain them well enough in the 700 characters), and I just used the "repeated" function.
