Hello everyone, still new to the forums, I have a question/need advice about chicago residencies.

So the situation is I am one class above my girlfriend and hopefully soon to be fiance come may. Anyways I am trying to plan ahead. I will stay in KC for a prelim med year while she finishes med school. Ideally I would like to stay in the mid-west where I am from. Since we are not couples matching because she is one year younger, I guess the best probability to end up in the same city is one with many programs like chicago right? I would try to get an advanced position while she would start intern year there.

My question is if you guys could help me out possibly rank all 7 chicago programs based on competativeness of getting in. My step 1 score was 208, step 2 ck is sept 26 and I know will do much better.

Anyways, I have an out of town kind of late (October) and since I am not the strongest candidate I would like to rotate at a place I could get in and possibly interview at during the rotation since I cannot use a letter (october is too late).

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for help!

I'm sure you realize your Step 1 is not the strongest - not terrible but it should be higher if you are aiming for "upper tier" programs. Regardless, if you can do a rotation and shine, it may improve your chances. I think for this you should try Rush, Loyola, and/or UIC. Northwestern and UofC are possible if the rest of your app (Honors, stellar recs, etc.) is solid. Wherever you rotate get in good with the residency program director who often is not the same person as the clerkship director; read ahead - know baby miller, morgan-mikhail, and anesthesia secrets backwards and forwards.
