I was wondering what inflammation on a pap smear might mean. My mom has had to go in like three times over the past 1/2 year, and now the Ob/gyn has scheduled her for a colo(?) spelling ? Is it a bad sign or could she just have a chronic infection. Just worrying, and thought someone around here might know.

Thank you guys. I feel better now, and appreciate you finding the links for me.

One more question? My mother just had the colposcopy done today and the results should be in Friday. What type of results are they looking for in her case?

colposcopy provides a magnified veiw of the cervix. so, the lesions could be easier to identify and biopsied. what likely occured is that they took a closer look at the cervix and biopsied it for the pathologist to review. it will give a more accurate picture of the histology than the pap smear.
