I will be a M1 student in a couple of months, can't wait. However I do have some questions.

1. How much clinical work do you do your first year?
2. Do you need a car often for official stuff (ie. excluding going out)?

It look like I won't be able to get a car right in the beginning of my M1 year, perhaps later on in the middle of my M1 year. So I was wondering if this would cause me any serious problem, if so then I have to make other arrangement. Thank you for your help guys and please do drop any helpful advice for my first year of hell

I realize this is quite late but:

For clinical stuff first year you have a class called foundations of clinical medicine which teaches you how to do physicals and take histories and the like. It lasts for the first 2 years and meets every other week. In addition once every 2 weeks you spend the afternoon following a doctor in either peds, internal med, or a gen practicioner. It gives you an oportunity to practice all clinical skills you have learned.
Yes you do need a car for first year since your doctor could be as far as williamsburg (hour away).
