i usually don't post here, but I think that I'll get a better response here.
Do med students take part in any extracurricular activities, like IM sport, clubs etc? If so, what do you do, and how do you manage your time? I have seen many medical school brochures that advertise these activities, an i wonder if med students actually have time to do all these.

Yes, med students do. You find time, can't be studying 24/7.

You can do IM sports, but time will be an issue, especially during 3rd year. Your 1st and 2nd year may permit more time for organized sporting activities. Stay active, or go crazy and get fat.

getting fat is easiar than you think. you can either do sports, or just hit the gym. I'm a big fan of weekends basketball and daily p90x

haha yeah so true, getting fat is ez, luckly I had built a good foundation on playing sports, working out, and being active prior to med school, I manage my time wisely to be able to get my heart rate up for like a hour a day. I feel like complete **** and suck at studying if I don't do this. Although it may take time away from my studying in the long run its beneficial to my endurance and focus while studying and at the same time I don't become a fat tub of lard.

You gota make time for the things that you feel are important to you, time management is a huge part of that.

There's a LOT of time first year- I've managed to play on a few sports teams, go out a few times a week, dick around and watch TV, and still get all of my work done. I'm not the best at time management per se (I end up doing the bulk of my studying in the week/days leading up to exams), but believe me, if you actually planned well you could do a lot.

I would pick and choose so you don't run yourself ragged, but if you like playing sports- do it. We have a ton of people playing IM and club sports, and there's time. We also do a lot of volunteering and I participate as leadership in a few clubs.

I do IM sports.

Did flag football last semester. Would have done basketball this semester, but couldn't scramble a team together in time. Soccer later this semester. I also do a few interest groups, but they don't meet often.

You may not be able to run the gauntlet of all activities, but time is what you make of it. There are people in my class that do many things on top of med school, i.e. train for half-marathons, iron mans, etc.
