what classes are taught in optometry? science classes, about diseases, how to cure them. drugs, etc, similar to med student classes in the first year or what? I am curious to know

Here is my schedule for the 2nd semester first year:

systemic disease
ocular disease
ocular anatomy and biochemistry
physical optics
geometric optics
patient care
evidence based optometry
clinical procedures

These add up to about 20 credit hours or so.

1st semester classes included pharmacology, neuroanatomy, anatomy of the skull, behavioral optometry, geometric optcs, patient care, clinical procedures, biochemistry and physiology, and that is all I can remember.

Anyways, that's kind of an idea. You can probably go to school websites and find class schedules to find out more about the classes we take. And I have no idea how this compares to med school, nor do I care 🙂. Somebody else may no more than I do about this.

You can look at the school's websites and find the lists of classes. Basic sciences, optics optics and more optics, pharm, and other classes that are optometry-related.

Thanks for the information

Is it possible to complete the O.D. program in less than four years' time, as a B.A. can be earned in three years?

heck no!!!😱

LOL. yup, Sarah's right, sorry!

Believe me, taking 22+ credits a semester is ENOUGH. I did finish my degree a semester early, but undergrad is not like OD school. It would be nice to finish early but it's just not possible.
