What do you do when an new and particularly not that good of an attending blames you for stuff that goes wrong in the OR that he/she clearly did?

1st and foremost: NEVER scrub with that person again. send in the rotating er resident or medical student to assist the cases. (protect YOUR interns and juniors though)

2nd- depending on your mood and amount of time left in the academic rotation: confront the person in the OR and reassign the blame, or just ignore it and secretly know they are a loser for having to blame someone for stuff

3rd- make it point not to treat your residents like that in the future when you become an attending!

oh, I forgot. one of my most favorite games would be to give the person the middle finger in clandestine fashion so only the scrub nurse or 2nd assist can see it.

extra points to give the finger and have anesthesia see it!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm still fuming about this. Maybe one day I'll get over it but right now all I can think about are passive aggressive ways to make his life miserable.
