...does CHEM 132/Gen Chem cover all MCAT-relevant general chemistry? There's not an obvious "Gen Chem II" class that I can find, and I know that the sequence that the Chem people suggest is 132, then two semesters of Orgo, and then P-Chem. Looking over the topics for the MCAT, it also appears that all of them are on the 132 syllabus.

Am I reading this correctly? Will I really be able to take the MCAT without taking another non-organic chemistry course? Modulo the possible small advantages from more science classes, obviously.

You might get more responses in the postbac forum. Here's a thread.

Looks to me like chem 131 & 132 is the gen chem series. Did you already take some chem elsewhere, which would explain why they're suggesting you start with 132?

Yeah, on reflection I should have probably posted this there as well. Actually, you take 131 and 132 at the same time; 131 is the lecture course and 132 is the lab course (there are a number of theories as to why the Chemistry Department insists on these being offered as separate classes, including the suggestion that it is because so many people fail one or the other).

It appears to be the case that there is a "General Chemistry and Energetics" course, 271, that covers kinetics and thermo/electrochemistry, which I am given to understand is what is normally the content of Gen Chem II. I wish the names of the courses were a little more straightforward...
