Hey guys, how are the rotations going so far? Please give me some information on the quality of the rotations, the location with respect to the area of the school (probably not an issue for NV students), the degree of freedom in scheduling rotations, etc.

I have secondaries from both of these schools but I am reluctant to send them in out of concern for the quality of the 3rd and 4th year rotations (and in the case of LECOM-FL, how students have to move all over). What are your thoughts?

I dont know about florida, but Touro has set an agreement with the ValleyHealth system probably the largest in vegas and has also set up the only derm residency in nevada (DO only). Plus the city is small so if you have to go to different hospitals its not a long drive

I've heard the rotations in Nevada are great. You can stay in the area if you want, and you've got a such a huge population base you are bound to have a lot of variety during your clinical years. Also, there's only one other medical school in the state...so not a lot of students competing for clinical sites. Their affiliated hospital list is pretty long...

im a 2nd yr at TUNV, and this is what i know about rotations:

all core rotations have to be done in LV (3rd yr consists of 9 core rotations, 2 electives, and 1 month off; 4th yr consists of 5 or 6 core elections, 6 or 5 electives and 1 month off). the electives can be done anywhere in the country that get approved and will take you (so you set it up). i believe if you want to do the electives in LV, they will set them up for you. and like someone had said, we are the only students (essentially) in LV. there are some Touro-CA students here, and a handful of UNR med students. there are affiliations set up with valley, st rose, university med center and a list of other area hospitals where we do rotations. and b/c of the nature of vegas, our 3rd yrs are seeing a variety of ptnts.

hope this helps. 😀

since nv is a fairly new school, do you see any hardships or difficulties being a med student there? are the rotations they set up solid? what are your thoughts on the match list?
