Im in my 3rd year of college majoring pre-med/dietetics. my stats in a nutshell:
GPA 2.2 at current university (I know its worse than terrible), 3.2 at previous university
3rd year college, (7 credits shy of junior status)
had to retake gen chem 1 (got a 2.0 second try) calc 1 (2.5 second try) and am currently retaking organisimal bio
Took chem 2 over the summer (got a 1.0)

so a few questions,
I know Im not gonna be able to make it into any school immediately after graduation, so with a post bac planned, what are my chances of getting into a DO or MD school after a few years?

With the low grade in my summer course, should I report it to my current university and retake it later? or just leave the credit at the university I took the course and retake it at my usual university?

Any suggestions on what to do now?

I know my stats are more than terrible and even with a terriffic MCAT score, i probably still wouldnt stand a chance at anything, but I want more than anything to be doctor, it has always been my dream. Any info you guys could help me with would be appreciated

With the right determination, it can be done. I would plan on attending a post-bac program. In the meantime, prepare your application for it. I would make sure you have decent research/volunteering/shadowing experiences. Make every effort to ace your courses the next year or so (an upward trend looks favorable in your circumstances). You should do everything in your power to do your best from here on out (that might mean making sacrifices elsewhere, seeking tutoring services, etc.) As far as the MCAT goes, allow yourself several months of study time for it. I hope you do well. Good luck!

Any specific reason why the grades are so low? DO schools can sometimes be sympathetic. That being said, I would still retake those courses immediately. If you got a C and D in chem your orgo grade will amost certainly be lower. Med school is insanely rigorous and you won't even come close to being able to devote all the time want to each individual class. After some self-examination I would retake gen chem now. I actually got a C my first time around in gen chem 1 and retook for an A. It's nice b/c AACOMAS only counts the higher grade, they don't average the two.

If there is any way to keep those low grades off your transcript without violating any rule I would do it.

Sorry to be a downer but I don't think you would get accepted anywhere without a ton of work. Like the previous poster said though, it can be done.....
