Answer:

According to the ADA’s official DAT Guide, Biochemistry appears as part of Cell and Molecular Biology. You’ll see:

  • Cell metabolism (including photosynthesis and enzymology)
  • Cellular processes (membrane transport, signal transduction)
  • Thermodynamics
  • Mitosis and meiosis
  • Cell structure and function
  • Experimental cell biology
  • Biomolecules

You don’t need to complete a full Biochemistry course to do well on the DAT, but you do need to understand the major metabolic pathways conceptually.

Dr. Romano adds:

“I would make sure that you clearly understand the CONCEPTS of Glycolysis, Krebs Cycle, Photosynthesis, Gluconeogenesis, Fatty Acid Synthesis and Oxidation, and the Electron Transport Chain. I have outlined them all for you in my Biology Review notes. All the key concepts have you covered.”

Bottom line:
A strong foundation in Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry — reinforced with Dr. Romano’s Biology Review that can be downloaded for free in the file section of the DAT Destroyer Study Group ON FB — will fully prepare you for any Biochemistry-related questions on the DAT.
