  • Fee waivers become available on April 1, 2025. They are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying early is crucial.

Eligibility Criteria​

You must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a first-time DAT examinee.
  2. Have not previously received a partial fee waiver.
  3. Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien.
  4. Demonstrate financial hardship (e.g., through FAFSA or tax documents).
  5. Have received financial aid from your school.

How to Apply​

  1. Log in to your DENTPIN account on the American Dental Association (ADA) website starting April 1, 2025.
  2. Select "Submit Request" and then "Waiver Request."
  3. Choose "DAT" as the test for which you are requesting a waiver.
  4. Submit the required documentation demonstrating financial need (e.g., tax returns, FAFSA results, or financial aid award letters).
  5. Wait for the ADA to review your application. This process can take up to 10 business days.
  6. If approved, you’ll receive instructions to proceed with your DAT application at a reduced cost.

Tips for Success​

  • Apply early since waivers are limited.
