Hello all! I am new here so hopefully I don't bombard everyone with stupid questions constantly or ask things that have already been answered. Anyway I just have a couple quick questions regarding pharm school rotations, specifically 4th year rotations....

When it's time to start rotations, does your school find your rotation sites for you or do you find them yourself?

Also I've heard that for rotations you need a background check/drug test. Do you have to undergo background checks and drug tests each time you start a new rotation, or is it just the background check needed to obtain an intern license? I'm not on drugs or anything so I'm not worried about that at all haha. I just think it might be a pain to have to undergo background checks etc. each time you start a new rotation.

Thanks in advance for any replies!!!!

My school let the students pick their rotations but I have heard many other schools pick them for the students!! So it is specific to schools. About background checks and immunization requirements, again it is specific to each site and you will usually be told well in advance about each site's requirements. Hope that helps!

It's a little bit of both for some schools. We used some crappy computer system that had us rank the rotation sites that we wanted to go to and it generated a schedule from there. Some people got their top preferred sites and those like me didn't even get their top 5 and even received rotations we didn't put down on the list. I really wish schools would be more open about how their 4th year rotation year works because I'm willing to bet that some students would use it as a deal breaker/maker.

Thanks guys, that answers my questions!
