I am aware that certain schools have required or recommended number of shadowing hours (i saw doc toothaches list he compiled). But do i have to have all those hours complete prior to submission of application or prior to enrollment at that dental school?
For example...Tufts requires 75 hours of shadowing and 40 of those hours must be from general dentists. At the time of submission, if i only have 50 hours complete...would my application be considered incomplete until i log the other 25 hours? or will it be considered complete, but i just need to complete the other 25 hours prior to enrollment (assuming i get in).

I have been shadowing a lot of specialists and i will begin shadowing a general dentist soon. I intend to submit my application by end of this week, but i will likely only log in 8 to 10 hours of shadowing general dentist before then. I know that on the professional experience section of the application, if you don't put an end date, it's considered ongoing and that's what i plan on doing.

thanks

Well, the purpose of shadowing is to demonstrate an interest and some exposure as to what dentistry entails. I'd speculate that your shadowing hours need to be complete before applying.

I would call Tufts and ask.

Before applying.
