Patient receiving controlled ventilation brought from ICU to OR where she is anesthetized. All the ventilator settings are the same that was used in the ICU; however End tidal CO2 increases. Cause of this increase ?

a. decreased cardiac output
b. decreased oxygen consumption
c increased patient lung compliance
d increased breathing hose compliance

answer d. increased breathing hose compliance

why???

Increased circuit compliance = lower tidal volume to the lungs = lower minute ventilation = higher etCO2.
None of the other answers would give a rise in etCO2

Unless you have a REALLY high tech ventilator in the OR, standard anesthesia ventilators are nowhere near as "controllable" as an ICU ventilator, thus your statement that "All the ventilator settings are the same that was used in the ICU" is probably not accurate.
