Hello, guys,

I have a quick question regarding the ERAS application this year. Would very much appreciated if anyone cares to help me on this:

So I graduated from an US md school last year. After finishing up one year of general surgery internship, I decided to quit and reapply because of personal reasons. So I will be taking the next year off for reapplication. So as I am filling out ERAS application for this year, there is a question that reads: "Was your medical education/training extended or interrupted?" So should I answer "yes" and explain my reasons for reapplication here (because I will be taking next year off for reapplication and research) or should I answer "no" here as I have never had any interruption in my medical school years and first year residency before?

Thanks!

Pretty sure the year off to reapply counts as an interruption even if it hasn't happened yet, since it will be in progress by the time you apply and interview.

Agreed. Answer yes, and explain it briefly. Any program that declines to interview you because of it wouldn't have interviewed you anyway.

Can I jump in with another ERAS question? I'm not totally clear about listing undergrad institutions in ERAS. I did 95% of my coursework at one institution, where I earned my degree. But I took a bunch of summer/online/silly art or PE classes at various other schools, so I technically attended like 6 or 7 undergrads... even though I only took 1 class, sometimes only 1 unit, at all but one. I remember it was a big deal that I definitely needed to list all of these on AMCAS (and get all the transcripts, ugh). Am I supposed to list all of these on ERAS as well? Or is it expected that you only list degree programs? I'm not trying to hide anything, but I don't want to look weird when I have to list "Local Junior College, Field of Study: Physical Education." Does anyone know the answer to this question or who I would even contact with this question?

I feel like program directors only care about degree-granting institutions, especially since I don't recall having to submit undergraduate transcripts to ERAS at all, but I'd try to find out for sure just to be safe - try contacting ERAS support. https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras/404324/support.html

Or you could always direct a tweet at @ERASinfo .... hahahahhahaa. It drives me crazy how many companies use twitter.
