This point was never clear in the physician salary surveys I've referenced online -- do the salaries listed in the salary surveys you find online already take into account malpractice insurance, or are the figures before paying for insurance?

Obviously, with OB/Gyn premiums being one of the highest of all disciplines, this greatly affects how the salaries listed are to be interpreted.

Thanks!

All "salary" surveys use net pre-tax dollar figures. Since malpractice is a deductible business expense, it is always accounted for in the figure (it has already been paid).

You would be doing yourself a favor if you deleted the word, and concept, of "salary" from your brain. They don't exist in most of clinical medicine.... except for the chronically employed and academic jobs. Ultimately, to one degree or another, all pay is productivity based.

Good question. (MOHS stop being so harsh.)
Unless you are in a solo practice most group practices cover malpractice. Since malpractice rates are increasing many have joined under a hospital umbrella. And MOHS is correct you productivity does define your income unless of course you work for the government in a rural setting (much more attractive these days)

Good luck
