Hey guys,

So, I sent my transcript from university a week ago to OptomCAS, paid the fee to my school and everything. I am going to call OptomCAS in the next few days to make sure they have received it because on my application, it says they have not. I am submitting my entire application tomorrow. I have everything else all set (personal statement, LORS, extracurriculars..etc).

Now I know it takes time to process the grades on my transcript. Does anyone know how long it will take? I am taking my OAT exam on Jan 4th so no matter what my whole application wont be reviewed until my scores are sent. This gives about 3-4 weeks for Optomcas to update my grades.

Also, when they enter the grades in.. does your university's GPA change? For the most part I heard it doesn't but just wanted some input. I have a 3.1 and I hope by them adding everything on my transcript to the application will not "lower" it. Thanks! 🙂

Cheers!

Once they receive the transcript, they review the grades really quickly actually..after they received my transcript, they eviewed it and calculated my gpa within the day. also it doesn't change your university gpa.

I sent a transcript in toward the end of getting my app ready like you too, and it took longer than I expected for it to show up as received. I think once it finally reaches them, they go through a thing of processing all that paperwork to make sure it goes with the right application and what not. Once they did have my transcript shown as received, they processed it really fast and updated my grades. I think the max wait time is like 1.5 weeks.

I don't remember having any difference on my GPA. But they do give you lots and different GPA's...so like a science GPA, non-science GPA, biology GPA, chemistry GPA, etc etc. I think the only way it would change is if your school gave credits in a different way than OptomCAS calculates them, but I think it's the same way that most universities do it. It also might depend on whether you retook a class that you got a poor grade in. Universities often replace that grade, but I'm not sure that OptomCAS does (I really have no idea on that!).

Hi!
Mine was submitted 11/13/2011 and sent out by 11/23/2011.
In about 7 days, GPA was recalculated. Mine changed from 3.72 to 3.73 yay lol

In 7 days an invitation for interview came.
In 13 days another invitation came.

I wouldn't worry if it takes a while. I only applied to 2 schools. And from 1 school, I never got any form of receipt of my application whatsoever. I sent 2 emails but received nothing in return.

Someone eventually replied after the invitation for interview and said in the email "As you may have heard from us already..."

So yea, don't worry it should be fine.

Thanks guys. Actually my application just got updated and they did receive my transcript today! Along with a transcript from the community college I took a class in 2 yrs ago. I appreciate your help! THANKS!

** I did retake 2 classes, and my school does replace them. I think as long as you retake the class in the same institution/university, they will replace the grade. If at a community college, they take the average LOL. 🙂
Merry Christmas!! 🙂

It took them a week and a half to get my transcript and then after that about 2 days to verify it. It was pretty quick. My GPA did not change at all.
