So I am almost done filling out my applications via PTCAS but I ran across an issue. What do I do if schools need different things for their pre reqs? An example is as follows:

I have Psych 101 (B), Abnormal Psychology (A), and Human Development (A).

School A needs Psych 101 and another psych while school B just needs 2 psychs.

I would like to use the 2 As vs an A and a B for school B since it does not NEED Psych 101. 1)Do I just designate all three as classes for pre req and get to sort out which to use for which school later or will they get automatically dumped into a grid?

I have the same issue with Bio too.

2) For Bio, would an Animal Physiology class with a lab count for most bio pre reqs or is that going to be on a school by school basis where I have to ask each one?

3) If I put the wrong class (ex. I put Bio 101 with a lab and animal physiology with a lab but they will not accept the latter) will they just contact me asking for a different class or will my app suffer?

Thank you!

The instructions at the top right of this section on PTCAS hash out this issue. For example it states, "If you have taken advanced courses in the same subject, only match the introductory or general course to the appropriate prerequisite. For instance, do not match advanced biology courses to “Biology 1”." You can also go through all the answered questions on the PTCAS Facebook page; they answered plenty pertaining to this issue.

So for your psychs, you would match PSYCH 101 to the Psychology prereq on PTCAS. Since School B needs two (advanced?) psychs, they will independently go through your transcript and see that you've taken Abnormal Psych and Human Development to fulfill their prereqs. For bio, you would match your BIO 101 to the Biology 1 prereq.

Tldr: Match your intro classes to the PTCAS prereqs. Schools will independently go through your transcript and find their specific prereqs.

And as a side note, don't actively try to hide your grades. I feel like it gives the wrong vibe, and a "B" is nothing to be ashamed of. If you want to, you can ask School B if they pick the classes with the highest grades for their "2 Psych classes" prereq.

Yes, the above answer is correct. Just follow the instructions on PTCAS.
