Hello,

I just got the email from ASPPB and have activated my online account to eventually schedule the licensing exam. I haven't paid my fees yet, though and I know you have to schedule the exam within 90 days of paying fees. My question is, how long do I have to pay the fees? As in, is there a time limit from when the account is activated to when I have to pay the fees?

Thank you!

I feel like I'm being an idiot but I haven't been able to locate the answer to my question. I know we have 3 months from when we pay the fees but I don't know how long after the activation of the account we can wait before paying the fees. Or is it an indefinite period of time?

Once you activate your account, you have 90 days to schedule your exam. When you schedule your exam is when you pay the fees. There is no time limit from when you activate your account and when you have to pay the fees. However, you don't want to wait too long after activating your account to schedule the exam, because the days/times fill up fast.

I'm not sure about this.

"Once candidates receive those 1st emails they have 90 days to verify their account. This does not mean that the EPPP must be taken within 3 months of receiving the emails, but rather, the account must be verified in that first 3 months. If a candidate fails to verify his or her account within that time frame, the licensing authority will have to re-upload the candidate’s information."

You need to simply verify your account within that time. The 90 days does not come into play until after you you have paid and been approved for the second step, the EPPP form, which is separate from the initial registration in their system. So I believe the OP would have much more time. Although, it's usually not necessary. apply, study for several weeks, pass, and get ready to apply to a state licensure board.

Agree. I skipped over the verification part since the OP said that he/she had activated their account. But now that I'm reading what you posted...

I just went back and checked the original email I got from ASPBB, because this can be really confusing. I was confusing verification/activation/account. @WisNeuro thanks for catching my error.

@joonscribble This is what my email said --
  • You must activate your account before the expiration date above (which OP already did)
  • If you do not activate your account, it will expire and you must be re-authorized by your licensing board (N/A in this case, as OP already activated account)
  • This will not start your 90-day window of eligibility to complete the exam.
    • Once your account is created, you may return when you are ready to pay your fees and schedule your exam, or take a practice exam.
    • When you pay your exam fees, you will have 90 days to complete the exam.
