Upenn is my top choice in terms of where I would like to get in.

I looked at the website, and the information is quite confusing.

It says One Year of English required.

Does that mean 2 semesters of english? How many quarters units would that be?

I am confused about semester to quarter conversion. (I attend UCLA and we are under quarter system)

And, Inorganic chemistry is same is general chemistry, or any chemistry that is not organic, correct? I just wanted to make sure they are not meaning Physical Chemistry...

Also.. It says "All prerequisite courses should be completed by the applying term, prior to matriculation to dental school."

I heard from some other people that I need to finish my requirement not by the time I send out the application, but by the time I graduate.

Is Upenn an exception to this?

Does this mean I have to complete everything, including biochem (which they require) by the time I send out the application?

If so, I am totally done for.

Thanks for reading.

2 semesters = 1 year. So 3 quarters should do it. I think don't think Penn specifically requires you to take classes in the English department. And yes, inorganic chemistry is just general chemistry.

You should have completed all prerequisites before you enter dental school. Don't need to have everything done before you apply.

Thanks for the reply, but it specifically says:

"All prerequisite courses should be completed by the applying term, prior to matriculation to dental school."

Does this still mean that I can finish up pre requisites before I graduate rather than before I send out application?

these are key words

I understand that, "prior to matriculation", BUT

It also says "BY THE APPLYING TERM."

What is the applying term?

you have to have the reqs by the end of the application cycle, before you accept their offer. you're not "done for". if this is huge concern tho, you can call to reassure yourself 🙂

thats wrong as far as i know. you just have to be done with all the pre-reqs before you matriculate. you can accept the offer and it will be conditional till the day you finish your required courses.

I would recommend having the requirements completed beforehand because it might increase your chance of getting an interview. I don't think it would sink your application if not though because they ask during your interview day if there are academic requirements left to fill and if so what your plans for completing them are. Good luck!
