title should read, question about specialty-specific LOR ("about" got cut off)

Let's say you were thinking about going into field A at the time and asked for a LOR from the attending during your elective.
2 months later, you have this realization that you want to go into field B.
Is it bad to use that letter if the attending says that you will be a great physician in field A when you are applying to field B?

Just wondering.
I mean, at this point, my attendings know that I'm still trying to decide between the two fields (related).

If you can, contact that attending again. Ask if they can change their letter to recommend you for the field you want to go in. One of my strongest letters is from my ENT rotation but at the end he specifically recommends me for OB/GYN. This way programs know for sure im going ob and not on the fence between ent and ob and what not.
