I have a paper due soon: Discuss the relationship of the cost of drug discovery and development on the nature and number of new drugs. Suggest possible policies to alter that relationship in order to meet unmet new drug needs.
I'm doing research on the topic, but would like to hear your thoughts... I really appreciate your time!

I saw a book in the medicine section of Barnes and Noble last night on this topic. I don't remember the title, but it's something like "The 6 million dollar pill." It was explaining why drugs were so expensive. I don't know if it covered possible solutions, but there were also several books in the section on how to fix health care and reduce costs.

You probably already found these books, but if not, I'd figure I'd bring it up.

I believe you may be referring to "The $800 Million Dollar Pill" by Merrill Goozner. It actually describes in detail precisely why it does not cost the pharmaceutical industry nearly as much as they claim it does to bring a new agent to market.

Humor us and give us YOUR thoughts first, just so we know we wouldn't be doing YOUR homework. 😛

Thanks for suggesting me the book. I just checked it out from a library today! 👍
