question to those accepted to Maryland

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
good question: i'd like to know the answer to this as well.
OP are you going today?

i went and got it, Dr. Meehan said that not all of us would get in the first day. (kinda, someone asked if we were all getting in and she wasnt hesitant to say so) she also said to be patient and that we should hear from them sooner or later

I went to the Nov. 15th event and got in.

I also went on the 15th and have an offer.

I got in december 1st as well, and was at the Nov.15th recruitment event. I spoke to 2 students afterwards...one of which said his wife works for the office of admissions and the other was a student helping out that day. The consensus...our group was the cream of the crop, but don't be fooled. The students and faculty that we met were asked for input later if they happened to meet us, same as what would have happened in a standard interview. If you showed up that day acting cocky as if you were already in and were not friendly and enthusiastic, I'm sure your chances were somewhat jeapardized.

just curious, any of you are considering to go to Maryland?

Still thinking about it. I'm strongly considering but I want to compare offers from other programs to make sure I can make a well-informed decision.

I'd say I'm at 70% dedicated to attending MD

it'll probably go up to 90% in a week or so if I hear from the registrars office saying that I've been classified as in-state

if you don't mind me asking, what other schools are you considering?

i think my avatar is quite clear about who else is on my mind 😉

are you a resident of maryland? i have been for 21 years...my parents both pay state income taxes and i have a residence and driver's license and graduated high school in maryland. yet, on my letter it says they havnt made a decision on my status which seems a little odd.

I got inot Maryland with an 8k scholarship, and Tufts with a 6k scholarship. So i'm like 80% comitted to UMB, but I'm still having second thoughts.

I was really impressed with UMB facilities, and the staff was really friendly. On the other hand I hear Baltimore isn't the safest (2nd highest murder rate in the country).

Tufts was also impressive, but you do an insane amount of lab work, the cost of living in Boston is higher, and I heard that some students have trouble finding board patients because there are 2 other schools in the city.
