I guess my question is, Should you apply to schools where your MCAT is in the competitive range but your GPA is not, both for MD and DO? So like say ECs, letters, and everything else is find, if an applicant had stats such as a 515 MCAT but a 3.3 cGPA, would you still recommend applying to MD (as well as DO)? Thank you!

Unless you have a steep rising GPA trend, a 3,3 GPA would be lethal.

So yes, schools scree by both MCAT and GPAs.

A high MCAT does not salvage a low GPA, unless it's a V or U-shaped trend.

I always recommend targeting schools where your stats are > the school's 10th %ile. Increase this to > 25%ile for the Really Top Schools. The higher up the pole you want to climb, the more slippery it gets.
