Hey guys im new to all of this, i was wondering if one of you can give me advice on something. I took my MCAT a year ago and i did not do well on it at all. I am doing dental now as my back up
(taking my DATS in 2weeks). My question is, during the interview will they ask me if i took my mcat? do i tell them i took it when applying for dental schools>?do they have my mcat score on file? or should i just keep my mouth shut lol.

Thank you very much in advance!

Errrmmmm... Sometimes it's better not to disclose that dentistry is your back up and many other things but if they found out anything fishy later on, it's not gonna be pretty. Choose your pill wisely.

Doesn't AADSAS asks if you've applied to any other health programs besides dentistry? Or does it just ask if you've attended?

I think they ask if you're applying to any other ones this year specifically. Can't 100% remember.

But yeah maybe choose your wording better than saying dentistry is your backup. That's pretty offensive to those whose first choice and dream it is.

thanks for the tips guys and no im not going to mention that dentistry was my backup thats just crazy, i took the mcat for hell of it to see what i get because my father was pushing me to do MD when i really wanted to do DDS. So now idk if because i took the mcat my chances of getting in will be harder because ill have to explain to them why i took the mcat in the first place. Thats why im asking will i be okay if i never mention it in the first place?

I think it's fine not to mention it if they don't ask. If they do ask if you considered other healthcare fields, there's no harm in saying you considered medicine, but then also be prepared to explain the change of interest to dentistry. As long as you have good reasons and motivation for wanting to pursue dentistry, there's no harm in sharing this information. Some students that want to pursue healthcare come into university wanting to do medicine in general, and realize later that they're actually more interested in dentistry or pharmacy or optometry, etc. Just explain why you had a change of heart if it comes up.... and don't use the words "back-up". 🙂

You don't have to say anything about the MCAT. The application asks if you have actually applied before and the outcome.

Good old dad to take the blame.
