i know these two majors are completely different but im majoring in business and pre-pharmacy. my school says there is no major such as pharamcy thats y i chose business and plus if dont get into pharm school i will have something to fall back on. so basically im taking all the sciences that are required for pharm school and business classes. what im wondering is whether my major is not going to help me into pharm school. i know it depends on the grades i made in the requirement classes, pcat scores, gpa, etc but im reading through the forums and it seems all most everyone is some sort of science major. im trying to go to mercer or uga's pharm school but im scared that my major will reflect my acceptance. any input guys?? :scared:

this forum helps me out soo much. 😍

I don't think your major has any effect on your chances of getting into a pharmacy school as long as you fulfill all your pre pharm requirements and do well in them. Plus, i think pharm school would even like you for doing business since everyone else is on the science page. good luck.

My undergraduate degree was business and it didn't pose a problem (I think). Some schools even offer a dual-degree with an MBA so if you think about going that route you have a head start.

You are talking to a German major here. I was told specifically that the major one picks does not matter. You will spend four years in pharmacy school studying science, science, and more science. You will look back on your undergraduate days and wish you took one more film or literature class. The schools just want to see you persuing a degree. These days, it seems that a degree is necessary because of all the competition. I also think that a different major makes one stand out. Just think of all the biology majors the admission's committee has to go through. Plus an easier major makes it easier to get a higher science and overall GPA. One of my good pals in pharmacy school is a buisness major. He doesn't think he will use his knowledge, however it is good information to have. Buisness can be used in many aspects of pharmacy.

Buisness can be used in many aspects of pharmacy.

Yup, that's true! For example, to obtain Management(Manager, Supervisor, Director) positions, to open up own pharmacy, etc...

If this helps you....In previous tour a few years back I majored in Political Science (and graduated with that <<horrors of horrors!>>). While I wished then that I knew what I wanted to do with my life, I do know that having this degree will help me as I move forward into pharmacy. I think having another degree or something alongside with pharmacy shows that you are interested in life. Besides, what is attractive about an individual whose only focus is pill-counting? However, I think that if I took pre-pharm and political science the first time, I probably would end up in the metal ward!

Added bonus: all my electives for prepharm is settled. I can concentrate on science alone and maybe even actually do some good the second time around
