hey.. I will be applying to DO schools this coming June. This weekend they are having a medical college forum at my university. Two of the med schools that will be attending are Nova and KCOM. I am originally from south florida and as of now one of my top choices is Nova. I was deciding how beneficial it would be for me to attend.. I found out that Delia Celestine will be attending from Nova...I believe she is on the admissions commitee. The only downside to the forum is that its is from 830 to 4ish and only 2 of the 12 schools interest me.. and I have the mcats and exams to study for.. but I will definitely make time if you all think its a good oppurtunity..
Also, if I attend the forum.. would you guys just suggest I make a list of questions about Nova's program and curriculum? I don't want to make a bad impression 😕
Any advice would help.. Thanks a lot!

delia is important person between the admission committee and the dean. unless you make a total fool out of yourself, delia will not really have an effect on the decision of getting accepted (so don't ask her out to dinner. besides, she is married and her husband is the jeolous type). so ask any questions you have, if they are legitimate questions, and not something to 'impress' and waste her time with.

Only 2 of the 12 may interest you now, but it would be a good idea to take a closer look at the others. Most people apply to many more than 2 schools in order to get an acceptance. Try to keep an open mind. You may wish that you had looked at more places later. There are a lot of people on SDN who set their sights a little to narrow the first time and ended up having to go through the application process all over again. It wasn't fun the first time; I can't imagine doing it twice.

Sorry I did not make it clear.. what I meant to say is that there are only 2 DO schools attending.. the rest are MD. As for applying, I will definitely send my application to many schools.. I still have a lot of research to do before making a definite choice.

The AACOMAS has a question where they ask you how you became aware of osteopathic medicine, I think it is a menu and one of the options is having met with a rep. from a DO school. I suspect this makes a difference when your application is being reviewed.
