ok first off let me preface this by saying please save all the "if youre going into medicine for the money youre not going into it for the right reasons" responses, bc im deciding between family practice and peds, so its obvious im not hung up on money. but i have read a lot of threads where people are saying peds salaries arent even hitting 130?? but this hotjobs.com salary report is showing avg income in Ct where i hope to practice is about 163k...can this be right? are people aware of this site? and do you know if these numbers are accurate?...I can def live on that, especially since there will be my wifes second income (maturnity/labor nurse) any thoughts?

thanks

There are lots of threads in Peds about the salary issue.

My understanding is that starting salaries can be $90-$130-ish on average. Avg physician salaries are going to include everyone, obviously, so the number you get will be much higher.

Seems to me that a salary listing specific to the area where you want to practice is the best info you can get on this.

I have no idea of the validity of the website you saw.
