I know I still have a chance at this cycle but I've decided to start planning for next cycle. My question is if I submit my app on June 1st with my old DAT scores and then take the DAT again in August, will my application still be considered to be in with the first batch, or will they treat the application as if they received it when they get my 2nd DAT scores? I want to do this because as of right now my DAT is 19/19/22 which isnt that bad, and if I do poorly the second time, I want the option of not sending it.

I think it depends by school and whether you're going to put on your AADSAS that you're going to retake or not. Some schools put apps on hold til they get your retake scores, other schools review the apps regardless because they already have a set of scores.

This is just based on my dealing with schools and DAT retakes this cycle. 🙂

When do you plan on taking the DAT? You don't have to submit your application exactly on June 1st because AADSAS will not process and send it out to schools right away. I submitted mine in mid June. It was part of the 1st batch, which didnt get sent out until mid July.

I think you can go ahead and send it out early if you like, but I believe there is a place on the application that says you plan to take the DAT again. That way, admissions committees will at least know that you are applying to thier school and they will anticipate your new scores.

I am not sure yet but I'm thinking sometime around mid to late july if I do take it again. I plan on taking some post bacc courses this coming spring semester to raise my gpa and that ends at the end of may, so I would want at least a month to study for the DAT. Hopefully I will just get accepted somewhere so I don't have to take it again.
