I was placed on the wait list at a dental school I really want to get accepted into, so I have periodically been e-mailing and calling people in admissions to keep my name fresh in their minds. I probably e-mail a person or two at least once a week. Today I received a response back that basically said "We understand that you are interested in our school. Thank you". Am I taking this the wrong way or does this seem like I may be irritating the admissions committee?

Yeah, i would stop emailing for a little while... you dont want them to be annoyed with you.

The way I would read the email is "Your really annoying us with these emails, we understand 1, ok 2, ok fine 3 emails stating your interest, but seriously stop it before we send you a rejection letter, which we will if we receive one more email from you... we are not kidding... test us, I dare you. Thanks."

It will be sure to win their hearts and gain you an acceptance. 😀

I would only email them once after being waitlisted, then update them with any NEW activities so they know that you are motivated and continue to enhance your candidacy. For example, if you increased your GPA with fall semester, re-wrote your DAT, published a paper, completed research or did additional volunteering. I know many people who called adcoms once-twice a month and got in. Just try not to be annoying with emails/calls more than once every two weeks.

Well the last thing I sent them was over 2 weeks ago. I don't feel I'm being too excessive, but I guess I will lay off for a bit. Thanks everyone.
