So this is getting a little nit-picky on stuff that probably is not going to actually affect my application, but what the heck the forum is here!

The "Honors" section of PTCAS says not to list High School honors, but I'm not sure how to interpret this on a couple of things:

1.) I earned my Eagle Scout when I was a teenager. This did not involve high school in any way, but I was in high school at the time. So do I still not include it?

2.) I received a full-tuition scholarship to any of the state universities for getting high enough marks on Arizona's standardized high school exit exam. For complicated reasons I ended up not taking advantage of the scholarship, but received it nonetheless. The "High Honors Tuition Scholarship", as it's called, is awarded by the Arizona Board of Regents. This scholarship is received for performance in high school but is an award for college education, same as any scholarship you received in college, so would I be ok to include it?

Thanks all!

For sure, you provide justifiable reasons that are certainly understandable if brought up in an interview. In addition, both are impressive and certainly worthy of inclusion on a graduate school application; even if it did contradict their criteria (which IMO, it does not). Good luck!

#1 I would omit as it occurred during the high-school years. #2 I would include as the scholarship award was intended to be used for college, the years post HS.

I emailed PTCAS with a similar question, and they stated that anything happening in the high school time period (even if not a high school specific activity) should NOT be included. I agree that #2 would be okay.

Alright well this confirms what I was thinking I would do, so I'll go with the majority opinion. 😀 Thanks guys!

Late reply, but for anyone reading this I'd definitely drop "Eagle Scout" into the essay.

I though briefly about mentioning it in the essay but I thought it would just sound forced because it wouldn't really weave in with the essay's overall theme. I didn't feel it was critical to sacrifice the continuity of my essay for it. But if you can find a way to make it work then by all means...
