  1. Attending Physician
I filled out the majority of the application this evening, but had some questions about things that aren't real clear to me after reading the directions and I figured this would be a good resource.

1. I played football in my initial undergrad experience. This is listed on my transcript as a 1 hour "activity" as a P/F. Do I go ahead and include it?

2. Shadowing experiences go under the "Work/Activities" section...but do you include a different "experience" for each different doc you shadowed with?

3. Is there a way to put classes (pre-reqs) on there that I have not taken yet, but plan to take in the near future?

These are just a few of the things I could think of...if any help is out there, I would sure appreciate it.

I would just transcribe everything on the transcript exactly.

Thanks...that's what I've done. Just concerned they might calculate it in weird. I think I might email them for clarification.

List everything EXACTLY as it appears on your transcript. If football is on your transcript, you should list it. You have the option to denote that a class was graded P/F, and you would enter "P" for your grade. I can tell you that my college has a very bizarre transcript; they listed my courses in random order and combined a few of them (sometimes unrelated!) on the transcript into larger mega courses. Even though my transcript does not correspond very well to the order in which I actually took the courses, I basically just listed every course on AMCAS exactly as listed on the transcript, and arbitrarily assigned years (freshman, sophomore, etc.) to them. AMCAS accepted that. Remember that AMCAS is going to compare your transcript to what you wrote on your app. If there is any discrepancy, you're going to get grief from them. So don't make your life harder by trying to be creative or whatnot.

Thanks...the other confusing thing to me was the "classification"...I realize it seems simple, but some of the courses I took were coded as PE classes...this includes stuff like CPR/First Aid, Kinesiology, etc..

And, we had "interterm" courses that were coded just as that...even though I took things like Trigonometry and Personal Finance during these times...the codes are ITM or something, so I just tried to code them as best I could on the application. I would hope I wouldn't get smacked for something like that.

Just gotta hear back on my PS from some folks so I can get cracking on it.

Yeah, I also had to arbitrarily assign categories to my courses, since we don't have class codes at my college either. AMCAS and the medical schools did not give me any trouble about any of the codes I assigned. Most of the classes were pretty straightforward to assign, and I just picked what sounded the closest for the ones that were interdisciplinary and didn't really fit into any of their categories. This discussion is giving me major flashbacks. :meanie:
