Hi everyone,

I'm new to apply PT and I have a few questions about it, if anyone can help me out that would be great!

- I'll be taking my GRE in August, and am currently filling out the PTCAS application. Should I submit the PTCAS apps early before I take the test?
(what about non-PTCAS schools?)

- What is considered a good GRE score for PT schools?

- How many schools should I apply??

- I applied only 1 school last year (non-PTCAS) and did not get in. Now that I'm filling out the PTCAS, would I be considered as a "reapplicant"??

- are the chances of being accepted about the same with PTCAS and non-PTCAS PT schools??

- The following is my current stats, any suggestions of what I should work on??

Here's my stats:
- Masters GPA: 3.44
- Undergrad GPA: 3.0
- Science GPA: 3.0
- PT hours: 50 (still working on that)
- volunteer hrs: 1000

Thank you guys so much for reading this, any inputs would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

although i am not well versed in PTCAS i will take a stab at answering some of your questions.

-since you are taking the GRE in a month, i would wait to send out PTCAS until you get your scores (unless of course the program deadlines are before that). you'll get your scores immediately so i would just wait for that.

regarding non-PTCAS schools, if the GRE is required, I would also just wait...august will be here before you know it! however, i would def. suggest contacting the schools and getting a concrete answer from them as i would not want to tell you the wrong thing (every program is a little different and i could easily be mistaken).

-most programs should be able to tell you a good score for their programs. i would say most programs require at LEAST a 900 and anything over 1000 is a good score.

-i only applied to one school and got in but apply to as many as you can/are interested in-PTCAS is great in that regard but every situation is different. i was going to apply to other schools pending the decision of my program though

-the "re-applicant" question is something i would call PTCAS and ask-they are very helpful

-the chances are def. the same. PTCAS is something certain programs choose to utilize in order to make everyone's applications more standardized. it has no effect on you and your liklihood of getting into a program

-your grades are pretty solid and you have a master's. i would just try to do well on the gre and write good essays/perform well in your interviews and keep volunteering.

just one word of advice-whatever we tell you on this forum should be taken with a grain of salt. ultimately, only the programs can answer your questions so check with them in addition to searching for answers here. good luck!!

I did find that schools that use PTCAS seemed to have a higher number of applicants than those that required separate applications. I just too easy to send your ap to more schools once you've completed the PTCAS process.
