Does anyone know:

1) If you get your own chair in the clinic or you have to "fight" for one?
2) If Creighton is using digital x-rays?
3) How soon you start working in the clinic?
4) If you are required to buy a laptop like at some other schools?
5) How "up-to-date" their technology is?
6) If they have the patient records on a computer screen in the clinic or on paper?
7) Does each class at Creighton wear a specific color of scrubs?
8) Are the science classes only for dental students, or are their other students in the class (like Med, Pharm, Nursing, etc)?

I'll be very interested if somebody responds back to this bc I have very similar questions. Did you get admitted for 2014?

jroque3313 - yeah I did get accepted for 2014. I'm just trying to decide where I want to go. Apparently nobody from Creighton frequents this forum - I can't seem to get any replies from anyone who knows anything about them.

As far as the scrubs - the reason I ask is because one of the schools I was accepted to you could wear whatever scrubs you wanted, and while I'm all about individuality, it made the entire atmosphere seem kind of unprofessional, tacky, or trashy. Just my opinion. The schools where every year wore a specific color (which was most of them) seemed more professional to me.

Does anyone know:

1) If you get your own chair in the clinic or you have to "fight" for one? You do not get your own chair. The clinic is seperated into departments (pros, endo, etc) and you will in each dept depending on the procedure you are performing that day. You do not have to fight for chairs, you schedule your patients just like in a real dental practice...if you try to schedule a patient for say tomorrow, chances are that the depatment could already be booked, but if you try to schedule your patient a week or two ahead, you are usually fine, The system works pretty smoothly.

2) If Creighton is using digital x-rays? yes

3) How soon you start working in the clinic? you will practice basic skills like impressions and injections on your classmates during year 1 and 2, your first filling on a real patient is spring of year 2 and you will be in clinic daily starting year3.

4) If you are required to buy a laptop like at some other schools? no, in fact, you are not permitted to use electronics during lecture time...they want you to pay attention and not surf the web. 🙂

5) How "up-to-date" their technology is? i would say it is pretty good.....probably not as new as the newer dental schools, but def not old....i would not even worry about this as a deciding factor when coosing schools b/c whatever you get in your office when you graduate will be newer and better than what any school has.

6) If they have the patient records on a computer screen in the clinic or on paper? all on computer....in fact we have courses just to learn the system

7) Does each class at Creighton wear a specific color of scrubs? no scrubs. girls wear professional clothing (slacks and a nice conservative top) guys wear shirt ,tie, and slacks. def not as comfy as scrubs, but we are def the best dressed students on campus, and other professional schools often comment that we always look so nice.

8) Are the science classes only for dental students, or are their other students in the class (like Med, Pharm, Nursing, etc) dental only

if you have any more questions, just ask 🙂🙂

Hopefuldenist,
What are the schools you are deciding between as of now? Which one are you leaning towards or have you already made a decision?
