Hi guys.

I am looking to apply to Vet schools within the next month. I live in the states, and I will be applying to many American schools.

However, I am also looking into applying to some foreign schools as well. I have looked at the Caribbean (St Matthews and St George's). I would like to apply to some schools in Canada, but I heard a rumor that the schools in Canada you can only get a Bachelors instead of a DVM. I know it's not a big deal, but I'd like to get a DVM. Is there any Vet schools in Canada in which I can get a DVM? And how difficult is it for an American to get accepted to a Canadian vet school?

I have one last question, and that is about the GRE's. I have been studying for the past few months and am looking at taking the GRE's this month. What's considered a competitive score for vet school? And how long does it take to get results back from the GRE's after taking them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot. 🙂

Hi,
As far as the degree you will get I believe that you get a DVM from Prince Edward Island. Other than that I don't know what the degree is but it is equivalent to a DVM degree and if the school is listed as AVMA accredited then you do not need to take further exams other than your boards in order to practice in the states.

You can check on the average scores on the GRE and GPA of various classes at the schools you are applying to. However I would say that an average of around 1200 is fine. You will get your verbal and math scores the moment you hit done at the end of the GRE. You will be mailed a hard copy a while after that which will include your analytical score.
