1. I signed up for Kaplan (classroom) and got a big fat "Review Notes" book, flash cards, and "Lesson Book" in the mail. No blue book. What's the blue book for? Will they give it to me, or should I go buy it?

2. My class starts in February. I was thinking about studying all of the Kaplan material before I got to the Kaplan class in February. Good idea or bad idea? In this case, which book should I use to study, the white book or the blue book?

3. Is it sufficient to use Kaplan as a starting material, where I get all of my DAT topics from, and then use Campbell's, Barrons, Cliff's, Destroyer, etc to supplement? Or should I use other material, and then use Kaplan to supplement?

4. Does Kaplan cover all of the DAT topics that are listed on the ADEA website?

Thanks in advance! 👍

For w/e it's worth, I used my kaplan book for a month w/o taking the class. Then barron's the last week for PAT exclusively.

1. Whatever you got in the mail from Kaplan is all you're getting. I think the blue book is the same as the Review notes, I'm not sure. I don't think you need to buy the blue book though.

2. It's not necessary that you study all of the material beforehand. They assign preview/review work as the course progresses, but it never hurts to get a head start! If you do, read from the review notes. 🙂
I must say, some of the preview work can get a little heavy though...

3. Don't know. I didnt use the other stuff. I had destroyer, but didn't use it....

4. I believe Kaplan does coverc all topics as stated by ADA

Good luck studying!

1. "Review notes" is the blue book. (Older versions had a blue cover.)

2. Study the blue book in advance. Try to get a head start on the sciences. Don't touch the white book until your class starts.

3. 'Yes' to the first question. I used wikipedia and achiever tests to supplement and found it very effective.

4. It covers all of the required topics. It could have had more detail for bio. That's why I supplemented with wikipedia.

im glad you replied haha i remember reading your thread and my jaw dropping when i saw your scores 😛

okay, so what about this book: http://www.amazon.com/Kaplan-2009-2...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261594492&sr=8-1

where does this book come in? i know its not given as a part of the course, so is it for self study or something? if i already have "Review Notes"/Blue book, then should i get this?

hmmm other stuff im getting: CDP and destroyer...and topscore + achiever...already have cliffs/campbells/schaums etc

Yeah, that book is for self studying. You don't need it. Out of the materials you listed. I used CDP and achiever. They were definitely worth it. I didn't get topscore because my friend said it was too easy, and I'm very impressionable. I didn't want to even take a chance with using practice material that was too easy. And I didn't use cliffs/campbell/schaums because I felt like I had already spent a butt load of money. Wikipedia worked just as well.

I got the online course, and studied the review notes. It's not comprehensive. You are better off going with AP Cliff bio+bluebook for Bio.
and then as I hear, Destroyer for Ochem and GChem!
PAT on Kaplan is toooo easy, good start but you need to use Crach PAT.
Good luck
