Hey... I'll just give a little background about myself. I went to a UC schools. I'm a first-time reapplicant. I am a white male. I applied last year to a ton of MD schools and got no interviews at all. I have a 3.4 GPA overall and my science GPA is 3.4 as well. I scored a 30Q on the MCAT. My LORs are probably average, I really don't know, I've never read them, and I have probably around 200 hours of clinical experience, and then some tutoring and teaching experience. I applied as early as possible, and complete the secondaries as soon as I receiver them almost lol... I think I may have done them even too fast and should have spent more time on the questions instead of just cranking them out...it is something I will focus on more this cycle.

I'll start with the easy questions first!

Would you guys suggest getting new LORs for this upcoming application cycle? Or is that required, or what? I was just curious about that, some of mine are kind of from people I didn't know as well, since I needed those science professor letters. As a reapplicant, do schools still require 2 letters from science professors and certain numbers of professor letters overall, or is it more lenient once you're a reapplicant, since those can be harder to get?

Next, I'd like to know if there are any suggestions on schools that I should apply to with my stats and such. I'm definitely going to try to apply to some DO schools... I mean I applied pretty damn broadly last time, but maybe in case I missed some schools, I'd like to hear of any schools that may be particularly receptive.

My absolute first order would be to apply EARLY EARLY. It made all the difference for me when I was reapplying. First time, I finished my primary in Aug and secondaries in Sept-Oct (I still thought this was early). Next year, primary in June, Secondaries in July-Aug and interviews by the first week of sept. I had an acceptance in hand on Oct 16th.
