Hi all! I'm pretty new here. I'm going to be a senior in undergrad biology soon, and I've only just realized pharmacy might be a really cool profession.

I know what the requirements are for most pharmacy schools.
  • Do these absolutely NEED to be fulfilled by everyone in order to be admitted?
  • What was most important in getting accepted?
  • I know most say you need 8 credits of anatomy & physiology, but the lecture at my school is 3 credits and the lab is 4 credits for a total of only 7 credits! Is that a problem?

My GPA is okay, but I have one more year of undergrad and I'm struggling to see how I'm gonna finish with the requirements in time!!!!! I still have no anatomy&physiology, I have no public speaking yet, and no microecon. Everything else I have finished.
  • What will I do if I end up graduating from college with my biology degree, but not having finished my prepharm reqs?
  • Will I somehow be able to take these remaining single courses at any other university in the future, before applying to pharm school?

Thank you SO MUCH for any help. Feel free to send me a message or post onto here. I would appreciate it infinitely. 🙂

I'll take a stab at some of these, but hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will come behind. 😛

Prior to starting school - that is, if you're accepted for a Fall 2012 start date, you can still take prereqs in Fall 2011 & Spring 2012.

In terms of prereqs or in terms of overall application? They look at your GPA, PCAT (if the school uses it), Letters of Recommendation, Personal Statement, and Extracurriculars... Am I forgetting something? Anyway, besides the numbers, it's important to show you're a well-rounded applicant and have some pharmacy exposure.

Call the school.

Should be able to take them still. I am a novice to the university system, but I know I can go down and pay the cashier & they'll let me take whatever I have prereqs for at the local college. I'd ask - I'm imagining since you've graduated they won't have any problem with you paying them for more classes. 😉 Take some time to get some pharmacy exposure (assuming you don't already) while you're taking the final classes.

Pretty much.

What was most important in getting accepted?

It is a combination. Grades, GPA trends, PCAT (if applicable), course load, extracurriculars, leadership, volunteering, pharmacy experience, writing ability, LORS, etc.

Call, but probably.

A degree is helpful in admissions, but you will need to complete them before matriculating.

Yes. You will most likely have to pay out-of-pocket, though. Financial aid is iffy for undergrad courses once you have a bachelor's.

Hope that helps.🙂

The only way I was able to get financial aid, after completing my undergrad, was to go onto grad/professional school.
