Hey guys,

i am new to this forum and i found this website really helpful. I like it so much! anyways... i am havin questions about pharm tech license. For license in IL, I know you have to go to http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/PH-T.pdf and fill out this application. I wonder do you have to take any exams to get license? I know there is exam for certificate, but how about license? I am quite confuse on the whole license thing actually. You just have to fill out the application and send it in with 40 buck and that's it? How do they know if you are qualified to be license or not? I am so confused.. any explaination would be nice! thanks!

Depending on the state, you may or may not need to have PTCB certification. The PTCB certification usually helps though. Basically, if you've completed pharm tech school/classes, did some amount of externship/training in a pharmacy, you can apply for a state license (which, again, depends on the state). The short story is, if you don't have any experience or don't want to bother with classes and stuff,
1. take the PTCB test and get the certification, then
2. apply for the state license (this is where you send in 40 bucks, the app, etc)

Make sure that you read the requirements for the state license for your particular state and that you can fulfill them, otherwise you're wasting your time and money.
