Hi, I am new to the board and am very interested in becoming a Pharmacist. Unfortunately, the college I will be attending does not have a Pharmacy program. I was wondering if any of you have been in the same situation. I am hoping I can transfer into a school with a pharmacy program but will see what happens. What are the best subjects to take in order to transfer? I hope someone can answer my question or respond.

Thanks

You might want to check out http://www.aacp.org
Especially the section "For Students and Applicants".

It will have most of the answers you are seeking, but also check out their links to various pharmacy programs and look at their individual prerequisite admission requirements (in the AACP website section called "Pharmacy Schools"). They differ from program to program, but all programs will require a year of general chemistry, year of organic chemistry (both with labs). Most require a year of a biology sequence. There are other classes you'll need to take, so check out those websites.

I would say most of us, (including me) were in the same situation, especially out here in the west. Although there are programs back east that take people out of high school into their pre-professional curriculum, that's not really the case out here, so most of us will or have applied to pharmacy programs after getting our baccalaureates (just like med or dental school).

Hi~

Unfortunately, the college I will be attending does not have a Pharmacy program.

I think that most pharmacy programs like their applicants to have a BS/BA degree...but if you're really hoping to transfer you should start taking those chemistry, biology, and physics reqs.

Good luck to you.
