First, I'd like to say that I am new to this forum, so if there is a better (more appropriate) place for this thread, let me know so I can change it.

I'm currently stuck deciding whether I want to go the DPT route or MD/DO route for Physiatry. I know the "comparison" between the two is a topic that I've seen over and over again. But I guess I just need to have my own thread for this, as I'm not too much concerned about the differences in the jobs.

My concern is whether I would want to go all the way through medical school for Physiatry. For those that are currently practicing Physiatry, can y'all give me some insight as to what characteristics you think are needed? Those that could be the deciding factor between MD and DPT.

I'm just not sure if Physiatry would be a right fit for me, as I do love the hands on approach of actively treating a patient as a PT does.

Thank you to all who respond.
