1) Does anybody know if most neurosurgical programs have a prelim spot available at their school or do you have to apply to a few positions via NRMP/ERAS?

2) Anbody have thoughts on the better type of prelim program prior to general surgery - academic vs. community? i'm thinking a community program might be better so that you get more operative experience?
