I was looking through requirements for certain programs that visiting students must do before being able to rotate at their program for 4th year.

I am interested in Anesthesiology. I have my cores 2nd semester of 3rd year. This means I have 4 months of electives and selectives, 1 month of FP, and 1 month vacation.

My core allows us to do 8 weeks of IM, 4 weeks gen surg., 4 weeks of OB/Gyn, 4 weeks of psych, 4 weeks of peds.

I was looking at Mayo's site and apparently they require 8 weeks of IM, surg, OB/Gyn, Peds. How common is this for other programs? I haven't seen specifics like these at other programs but am I missing something here?

Since I want to Anesthesia, this kind of screws me - as it's tough to find something related to that field during 3rd year, especially with my cores being the 2nd semester of year 3.

My rotation schedule is Vacation, FP, IM-selective (Ambulatory MSK Medicine), Surg-selective (CT Surg), Elective, Elective.

My current Elective interests are Radiology and Pulm/CC. I picked Rads b/c it's something that has also caught my eye and Pulm/CC would allow me some way of interacting with Anesthesiologists. However, with this requirement that Mayo has, I'm thinking I may have to switch to Peds and OB/Gyn, what's your take on this?

Thanks for any and all help!

I've been looking into my electives for next year as well... having minimum requirements has been quite rare in my search.
